Function: Administrative assistant in the Secondary School office
Reports to: Headmaster
Minimum Qualifications:

• Successful administrative office experience in an academic setting
• Outstanding oral and written English and Mandarin Chinese communication skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Competence with computer office programs (including Microsoft, Google, etc.)
• Ability to work with a team to meet a wide range of needs and requests

Job Responsibilities:
• Receives and directs student and parent visitors
• Answers and screens phone calls
• Liaises between parents and administration

Primary Objective:
This role is responsible for ensuring that all technological systems, networks and equipment are optimally functional and able to support school operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee school technology functioning, networks, operating systems and hardware
  • Direct and manage the IT department including supervision of IT support staff members
  • Guide and advise IT staff to ensure work is aligned with instructional goals and school policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of servers, systems, networks and software
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers
  • Develop and manage a responsive “helpdesk” support structure
  • Identify technological problems and areas of concern, and develop plans for timely resolution
  • Work closely with school leaders and Educational Technology Specialist to ensure efforts are aligned with strategic goals and teacher training needs
  • Manage accounts, domain and email systems and groups
  • Maintain current knowledge about effective information technology systems and practice
  • Research and provide recommendations regarding appropriate technological upgrades or changes to hardware, software, infrastructure and equipment
  • Commit to and practice child safeguarding standards and requirements; ensure that all students are protected from exclusion, discrimination, harassment, abuse and neglect

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Training, knowledge and experience related to informational and digital technology hardware, software, systems and networks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows 10, Mac OS, Linux, Microsoft Office365, OneDrive and server operating systems
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN/VPN and wireless networks, internet security issues and virus prevention, firewalls
  • Understanding of local laws and procedures regarding technology use and access
  • Spoken and written fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
